On top of that, this month interferes with sleep. But, how?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"uncode_text_column\">\n<p>Well, what is one of the main causes of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/marialma.com\/blog\/how-to-stop-insomnia-from-taking-over-your-nights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">insomnia<\/a>? Yes, that\u2019s right:\u00a0<strong>Anxiety<\/strong>. With circadian and psychological regulators under pressure, some people will sleep less. And we all know how Christmas can end up being messy, chaotic, and stressful.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"uncode_text_column\">\n<p>But, don\u2019t go anywhere. There is more! The last two main elements that affect your sleep are, of course,\u00a0<strong>food and alcohol.<\/strong> At this time of the year, people overeat and ingest high levels of alcohol, which leads to early awakenings, hangovers, and insomnia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"empty-space empty-single\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-38014\" src=\"https:\/\/marialma.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Christmas-dinner-1-2-943x1000.jpg\" alt=\"Christmas-dinner\" width=\"943\" height=\"1000\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"heading-text el-text\">\n<h3 class=\"h3\"><strong>All I Want for Christmas is a Good Night\u2019s Sleep<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"uncode_text_column\">\n<p>So, Christmas can have a very damaging effect on your sleep cycle. Of course, we can\u2019t speak for everyone, but around the holiday season, these bad habits make December\u00a0<strong>one of the less restful months of the year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"uncode_text_column\">\n<p>Here are 4 tips on how to maintain our quality level of sleep around Christmas time:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"heading-text el-text\">\n<h4 class=\"h4\"><strong>1) Moderate alcohol consumption.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"uncode_text_column\">\n<p>No, we are not trying to bring back the Dry Law or to make your family gatherings unbearable. Alcohol can make you fall asleep faster, but it prevents you from achieving a deep sleep stage when you can fully rest. So, you\u2019re most likely to wake up frequently and easily in the middle of the night, feeling tired, dehydrated and needing to go to the bathroom. Remember to\u00a0<strong>drink water before bedtime.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"heading-text el-text\">\n<h4 class=\"h4\"><strong>2) No &#8220;save the calories&#8221; rule!<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"uncode_text_column\">\n<p>Skipping lunch on Christmas Eve or breakfast on Christmas day is never a good idea. The result will be the same: you will overeat as soon as you are sitting at that dinner table facing that chocolate mousse, anyway.
